翻訳と辞書　辞書検索 [ 開発暫定版 ] スポンサード リンク St Mary the Virgin, Acocks Green ： ウィキペディア英語版 St Mary the Virgin, Acocks Green St Mary the Virgin, Acocks Green is a Grade II listed Church of England parish church in Acocks Green, Birmingham, England. ==History== For centuries, Acocks Green was part of the Parish of Yardley, however the population had expanded throughout the 19th century, with the middle classes moving out of the town, and demand came for a separate parish church. The church was the outcome of meetings of local people in 1864. The site was given by Yardley Charity Trustees, and John Field Swinburn gave an endowment of £1,000, equivalent to £51,500 today. The foundation stone was laid on 13 October 1864 and, on 17 October 1866, a portion of the nave and two aisles were consecrated.〔Byrne p.113〕 The church was a chapel-of-ease to St. Edburgha's, Yardley until 1867, when a parish was created.〔 The church, designed in 1864 by J. G. Bland, was originally intended to have a tower and spire at the southwest corner.〔Marks〕 In 1894, a chancel, designed by J. A. Chatwin, was added. However, the church still lacked the north and south transepts, Lady chapel, choir vestry and tower of the original design, as it still does today.
